Steve Munford
Interim Chief Executive Officer and President/Executive Chairman of the Board

Steve Munford succeeds Mohamad Ali and joins Carbonite as President and Interim CEO.

With nearly two decades of executive leadership experience in the security software industry, Steve brings a strong track record of driving operational execution. He has served as a member of the Carbonite Board since January 2014, and as Chairman of the Board since March 2016. Most recently, Mr. Munford served as Interim CEO of Absolute Software Corporation, a leading computer and network security company, where he helped refocus the company’s growth strategy and oversaw the transition to a permanent CEO. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Sophos Group plc, a developer and vendor of security software, where he led the company through a period of rapid expansion and growth and firmly established Sophos as a leading provider of security solutions to the midmarket. Mr. Munford also served on Sophos' Board of Directors from September 2012 to February 2019.

Mr. Munford holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and an M.B.A. from Queen's University.

    John Post
    Chief Operating Officer

    John Post brings a deep understanding of the cybersecurity sector and a profound commitment to culture and collaboration to the organization in his role as Chief Operating Officer. John overseas HR, information technology and systems, corporate development and project management. He leads the integration of Webroot and Carbonite and ensures the combined culture, process, systems and alignment are in place to drive the growth strategy.

    John’s initial role at Carbonite was as General Manager of Webroot, driving all aspects of the Webroot business while working to integrate with Carbonite. Prior to the Carbonite acquisition, John was part of the leadership team that transformed Webroot into one of the leading endpoint providers for the mid-market. As Chief Financial Officer, he was instrumental in Webroot’s transformation, building out the operational teams, process and systems that enabled the shift towards mid-market, rapid growth and continuous efficiency gains.

    John earned a J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.

      Hal Lonas
      Chief Technology Officer

      A lifelong technologist and innovator, Hal Lonas brings more than 25 years of experience to his role as Chief Technology Officer for Carbonite. Hal oversees the engineering organization, driving the vision and strategy for technology and ensuring all technological resources are aligned with business needs.

      Previously, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Webroot, where he led the creation of the first cloud native security platform. This shift was instrumental in the evolution of Webroot and how it both created and distributed products. Hal is a well-known innovator in the machine learning space and a champion of automation in technology. In addition, he co-founded and was VP of Engineering for BrightCloud and has held key engineering management positions with Websense (WBSN), ADP and others. Hal also has co-authored several patents.

      He holds a B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT.

        Chad Bacher
        Chief Product Officer

        Chad Bacher brings a focus on vision to his role as chief product officer. He oversees all aspects of the product organization, including product strategy, and champions for solutions that fit the needs of customers today and into the future.

        Prior to this role, Chad was SVP of product strategy and technology alliances for Webroot, where he was integral in shifting the product vision that led to the creation of the original next-generation endpoint solution. His focus on a solution that met the needs of the mid-market catapulted Webroot into its position as a market leader. Prior to Webroot, Chad held various product management roles at technology companies.

        Chad has a B.A. from the University of Colorado Boulder.

          Anthony Folger
          Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

          As CFO at Carbonite, Anthony Folger keeps one eye on our numbers and the other on our future. Together with his team, Anthony is setting our strategy for global development and expansion, and ensuring we have the people, systems and processes in place to be successful every step of the way.

          Prior to joining Carbonite, Anthony was CFO at Acronis, where he handled all aspects of global accounting, operations and human resources. Before joining Acronis, Anthony was Director of Finance at Cisco, and Corporate Controller at MarketMax and Habama. Anthony also held senior finance positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte & Touche.

          Anthony graduated from The College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in Accounting and Economics, and he is a Certified Public Accountant.

            Craig Stilwell
            Chief Revenue Officer

            Craig Stilwell brings more than 26 years of IT sales, channels and operational leadership experience to his role as Carbonite’s Chief Revenue Officer.  At Carbonite, Craig is responsible for growing our business and optimizing our worldwide sales organization and routes to market.

            Prior to joining Carbonite, Craig spent 19 years at Citrix Systems, most recently as the SVP of Partner Sales, VP of US Commercial Business, and as the Regional COO of the Americas.  Craig also held the position of senior manager in the consumer products industry practice at Accenture.

            Craig holds a BSBA with honors in Finance from the University of Florida and also serves on the Board of Trustees for his local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

              Scott Semel
              Interim General Counsel

              Scott Semel leads the legal team as interim general counsel. Scott is a seasoned legal expert who will continue the company’s focus on integrity and transparency.

              Scott has over 20 years of senior leadership experience in the technology industry, as general counsel of both U.S and international public and private companies. Scott also has significant experience leading the security, compliance, enterprise risk and people teams at multiple technology companies. Most recently, Scott served as interim general counsel and senior vice president, people at Information Builders, Inc. Prior to that he was EVP, of Legal, Security and Compliance at Intralinks, Inc. a secure collaboration and sharing platform provider. Before that he was the EVP, General Counsel at enterprise software provider Novell, Inc., before which he was the Chief Legal Officer of TeleAtlas, NV, a Dutch provider of digital maps and mapping solutions. Prior experience also includes General Counsel and senior people roles at Ascential Software and NaviSite.

                Larry Friedman
                Chief Information Security Officer

                Lawrence "Larry" Friedman is a highly regarded technologist who enjoys the creative process of solving problems and designing complex systems. As Chief Information Security Officer, Larry and his team build and maintain the strategy and programs necessary to secure both Carbonite's data protection solutions and our corporate IT environment, and to maintain the integrity of customer data.

                Prior to this role, Larry was the Chief Technology Officer at Carbonite, where he was responsible for leading a team to anticipate the IT security needs of our customers and engineer data protection solutions. Before joining Carbonite, Larry was a distinguished engineer at RSA Security, where he provided technical strategy and architecture for RSA's Identity businesses. While at RSA, he supported multiple corporate development initiatives, leading M&A technical diligence reviews that resulted in the acquisition of six different companies. Prior to RSA, he held principal engineering positions at Greatway Technologies and Digital Equipment Corporation.

                Larry is the co-inventor of 43 granted patents, with 7 patents pending. He holds an M.A. in Music from Boston University, where he also studied for his M.S. in Computer Science.
